On Tuesday, May 18th at 7:00 PM at the Monticello Community Center, there will be a public forum for anyone interested in the Friends of Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park.  The open house event begins at 7:00 PM and will feature a short presentation on our progress to date and future park initiatives.

After the presentation, visit a variety of public tables where you can learn about and give your input on park use, look at the concept map, see the athletic complex map, visit with other Friends of Bertram Chain of Lakes, and discover more about the land and funding.

Your input on this project is much needed and so we hope you can attend!  Don’t miss this chance to learn more!

Wright County Matching Funds

fallyellowCould you write a quick email?

Sorry for the short notice on this, but if you can take a minute to send an email to Wright County Board members, Jack Russek and Dick Mattson, it would be much appreciated.  The County Board is meeting tomorrow, Tuesday night.  One of the topics up for discussion will be whether or not to match funds for the Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park.

The email can be very short.  Even something like:

UPDATE – Monticello City Council Meeting

Monti Council Meeting

KidsonpathCould you Attend?

Could you attend the Monticello City Council meeting on Monday, March 22nd at 7:00 PM at the Monticello Community Center, Mississippi Room?

The City Council is being asked to consider funding for the Friends of Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park.  They will actually be making decisions whether or not to authorize funds and your presence would help to show that people in the community care about this park.

Please use the contact form on this website if you have any questions, but either way, thanks for taking time to consider this.

Your support is appreciated!

WC Vote Thank You

KidsonbeachTHANK YOU!

As a follow up to our note of March 12th, we wanted to let you know that the Wright County Board did another vote.  The results were 3-2 in favor of resolutions to allow Marc Mattice to submit the grants for acquisition of Bertram.  Yeah!

He had sought approval last week but was turned down in a tie vote of 2-2, because Commissioner Eichelberg was not in attendance.  It came back for another vote today.  This time Commissioner Eickhelberg voted along with Commissioners Thelen and Sawatske in favor of the resolutions to submit grants was approved today.

Thanks to all the commissioners who voted to keep this project alive and to all of you supporters who called and emailed your commissioners to make this happen!

Are you in Wright County?  Help . . .

A critical vote happened this past Tuesday at the Wright County Board meeting.  Marc Mattice, Parks Director, approached the board seeking approval to submit a couple of grants for acquisition of Bertram Lakes Regional Park.

Commissioner Elmer Eichelberg was not there, so there were four commissioners.  Two of them, Rose Thelen and Pat Sawatzke, voted to approve the grants.  Dick Mattson and Jack Russek did not . . .  so the motion failed.  HOWEVER, it will be back on the agenda next week when Elmer is back.

We need anyone from Jack’s, Dick’s, or Elmer’s districts to contact them

Looking for Core Members

Winter PathLooking for Core Members . . .

Friends of Bertram Chain of Lakes is looking for a few people to join the core committee. Right now, the core committee meets in Monticello, MN. The meeting is on the first Friday of the month at 9:30 a.m. (which would be this coming Friday, March 5th). We are open to changing that time and day if it doesn’t work for several of the new members.

This year this group plans to:

* Sponsor an event at the Bertram Chain of Lakes in late spring or early summer.
* Increase membership and inform members via internet exposure.
* Have a presence at public events – have a booth to distribute literature.
