CTA Bonding Bill Update

BirdsoverwaterBonding Bill Update – You Can Help

Several members have asked for an update on the call to action that Friends of Bertram Lakes sent out a few days ago. Here is the latest news:

SF 2360, the Senate Bonding Bill went to the floor, and was passed onto conference committee.

Senator Dille voted in favor of the bill, while Senator Koch voted against it. She was in attendance at a press conference afterwards speaking in a negative way about the entire package.

Word from St. Paul is without the support of Senator Koch, Bertram Lakes will be the first thing taken out of the bonding bill, once it enters the conference committee. This is likely because they perceive there is no local support for Bertram Chain of Lakes.

WHAT CAN BE DONE …

If you care about Bertram Lakes,

• Contact Senator Koch and ask her to demonstrate her support for Bertram Lakes Regional Park by reconsidering her opposition to the bonding bill.

Senator Amy T. Koch (R)
100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
State Office Building, Room 131

• Write letters to the editor

• After the conference committee is named, we will pass the membership on to you so that you can contact members directly.

• Forward this to other supporters.

Thanks for your continued support!

Sample letter to Senator Koch:

Dear Senator Koch,

I’m writing today to support Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park’s inclusion in the bonding bill. I was disappointed to hear about your opposition to the bonding bill. Please reconsider your position and do what you can to assure its inclusion when it goes to conference committee. This park would be a great benefit to the region.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Signed,
